We feel like we are learning from each other.
We were seeing and hearing academic language, we saw teamwork happening, I saw high fives. I heard, ‘Yeah, we got it!’
I like that OKO celebrates us when we get it right and pushes and supports us when we are struggling.
The verbal prompts and cues are really good… it gives them the brain space to get it wrong and try again.
I’ve seen the excitement that comes from getting the answer correct and collaborating with each other, and hearing the discussion.

Used by teachers with students in grades 3-9, OKO is an intelligent small group assistant that makes learning fun and collaborative by engaging students through voice and gestures while they explore math concepts. It supports instruction across Tiers 1, 2, and 3 of an MTSS framework and works on any Chromebook or laptop.
In just a few weeks of using OKO, students report a decrease in math anxiety, teachers report higher classroom engagement, and math scores improve.
Findings from a WestEd study of OKO's efficacy in the classroom found that, in just a few weeks of using OKO 2-3 times/week for 15 to 20 minutes, students made statistically significant improvements on a validated fractions battery and reported a decrease in math anxiety. What’s more, teachers reported higher classroom engagement overall.
OKO supports differentiated instruction across a range of instructional settings, helping teachers deliver personalized support to multiple students simultaneously. Using voice and gesture recognition, OKO prompts students to explain their thinking, collaborate with peers, and build conceptual understanding—without needing constant teacher oversight.
Tiers 1 & 2:
Tier 3: Math specialists, special educators, and interventionists use OKO to deliver additional targeted instruction to students needing the highest level of math support.
OKO leverages high-quality instructional materials from content partners and Open Education Resource (OER) providers such as Illustrative Mathematics and Eureka, enriching them with hints and explanations that undergo thorough editorial review by master educators to confirm accuracy and appropriateness. All content is aligned to state standards and designed to support instructional coherence across grade levels.
Other math products are focused on whole classroom instruction or individual personalization, which can be very isolating for students. OKO is uniquely addressing small group work, allowing students to engage with peers in ways that build both academic skills and essential social skills like collaboration, consensus building, and teamwork.
At OKO Labs, we take student privacy seriously. Our platform is designed to support school and district compliance with FERPA and COPPA. We follow rigorous data privacy and security standards that meet or exceed requirements in all 50 states. For more information, see our Privacy Policy.
OKO uses a combination of AI tools to support productive small-group work. It draws on large language models (LLMs) to understand what students are saying during group discussions, and uses computer vision to recognize gestures and engagement. It also factors in student responses to structured tasks, like multiple-choice questions.
By combining these inputs, OKO builds a real-time picture of how each student—and the group—is progressing. It then uses research-based facilitation strategies to guide the group with timely prompts that encourage collaboration, support equitable participation, and deepen mathematical thinking—all without relying on constant teacher direction.
OKO utilizes a tiered subscription model, providing full platform access at the classroom, school, or district/network level. All tiers include our core AI-facilitated small group platform, curriculum-aligned math content and teacher dashboard with session analytics. Implementation and onboarding support, comprehensive training, technical support, and regular success reviews are included in every partnership to ensure optimal adoption and impact.
We offer multi-year agreements, flexible pilot options, and specialized pricing considerations for high-need Title I schools to ensure equitable access to effective small group instruction for all students. Contact us to learn more.
